Came to Co-found
My Divorce Solution
Co-founding a fintech company that would revolutionize the divorce sector was not what either of us set out in life intending to do, but our experience, skills and life events turned out to leave us perfectly placed to set up this business together.
Catherine was a financial planner, who went through a painful divorce, and vowed to help women understand their marital estate, so they did not get taken advantage of at such a vulnerable time in their lives. As part of this bigger purpose, she took on further training to become a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst.
She quickly realized that the problems with the divorce industry were much bigger than just financial awareness. In fact, she started to understand that there were systemic issues throughout the entire divorce process.
Catherine had the expertise to tackle the financial element of the problem, but she needed someone who had experience with the legal process of divorce who would share her perspective and join her mission. Fortunately, around this time, a colleague introduced her to Karen, knowing that Karen also had a passion to help empower women through her nonprofit. Catherine also learned that Karen had extensive professional experience as a paralegal and law firm business manager – and, like Catherine, she’d been through a divorce herself, and her experiences had convinced her that the system needed reform. With aligned incentives and joint commitment, Divorce U Solutions and My Divorce Solution was born in January 2016.

Over time, the common thread is that we have learned to disagree to an agreed resolution, not to either of our personal agendas. Our partnership has remained strong in respecting one another’s ideas and opinions, which we have been able to pay forward to the individuals and couples that we work with, so that they can benefit from the same approach.
Our services allow a judgment-free space where clients learn how to develop practices to help them work from a space of knowing rather than defending or responding to their spouse’s or their attorney’s agenda.
The skills we needed for our new venture were tenacity, respect, trust and vulnerability. Our belief in our mission and most importantly each other has always remained the foundation of our services and our relationship.

As a divorced mom of three, Karen knows what it’s like to navigate the dark waters of divorce alone and in the dark. Karen cofounded My Divorce Solution as the company she wished had existed in her divorce. She’s committed to helping families navigate divorce differently – with financial clarity – not fear – driving decisions and compromise
As a mom of five and financial expert, Catherine’s experience with divorce left her wishing for better information, resources, and process for the financial separation that comes with divorce. As a result, Catherine co-founded My Divorce Solution – the company she needed in her divorce.
